i have cute boys...
just look at them.Porter giving Daddy a smell of the blossoms he picked from a tree. Porter's not angry, just showing Daddy how to sniff the flowers.
Bridger...smiling in his sleep as usual. Did I mention that this little kiddo likes hats? He falls asleep almost instantly when he has a hat on his head. And he looks pretty darn cute in one.
like I told you... cute boys...
... and there's a ruggedly handsome one in the mix too.

our little amphibian
Porter has always enjoyed being in the water. From the moment he was born he enjoyed his baths and he's enjoyed the times that we've visited this pool with Jill and Kenny.
With the weather being as beautiful as it has been, we decided it would be a good idea to get a kiddie pool for the backyard.
Porter loves it.
It's an alligator.
Porter loves alligators.
If I had a nickel for every time I heard "OOHHMMPP" and "WOW" yesterday, I would be a very wealthy woman.
It wasn't until he started shivering that he decided maybe it was time to go inside. I've never once heard him ask to go in so he must have been freezing. I took him inside, changed his clothes and sat him underneath a big blanket. About 5 minutes later he was dragging me to the back door saying "OOHHMMPP, peeeeace" (If you haven't heard him say please, you really should... it's darling.)
Sadly the wind picked up today and made it much colder outside, so no swimming today. But, that didn't stop Porter from enjoying his pool. He pulled me outside to sit in his empty pool and he was just about as ecstatic today as he was yesterday.
Hopefully we'll have less wind over the next few days and Porter can once again enjoy a pool filled with water.

double stroller?
Seeing as how it was in the mid-seventies today with clear skies, we decided to take a little walk. Get Porter to work off some energy and get Momma and Bridger out of the house for a little bit.
Kyle pulled out the stroller for Bridger, and Porter just got excited.
He started looking for where he could sit and he quickly made himself at home.
It took a little adjusting to get comfortable...But once he got there he didn't want to get out.
Who needs a double stroller? They are much more expensive and not even close to as compact as the one I already appear to own.
It took a while, but we convinced Porter that it's much more fun to push the stroller rather than climb underneath it.
A pretty good decision if you ask me.

I might be a little tired...
But this kid cracks me up. Porter loves spaghettios and any kind of fruit for his lunch and dinner, he doesn't like to eat much else these days. So yesterday we decided to pick up a couple of different things that he has tried before but we want to try again (you never know, right?). So we got some hot dogs and chicken nuggets...he hasn't had either one in quite a while.
This is our actual conversation this afternoon while I was getting his lunch ready. I really didn't see it coming...maybe that's why I ended up lying on the floor laughing til I almost wet my pants.
Porter: Eat.
Me: You want to eat? What do you want?
Porter: Bite.
Me: Do you want a hot dog?
Porter: Whoof, Whoof.
Me: No, no. Porter, do you want to eat a hot dog? (showing him hot dog buns)
Porter: Whoof, whoof.
Me: Okay, do you want chicken nuggets?
Porter: BAWK, BAWK.
He's learned his animal sounds well... if I could only get him to eat.

one month ago...today
It really has gone by so quickly. It's really hard to believe that one month ago today I was holding this little guy in my arms for the first time.
He's the perfect baby.
He fusses when he gets hungry and when he's cold and he only cries out when one of these two irritations lasts too long.
He sleeps in 4-5 hour stretches at night and for pretty long stretches during the day.
He loves to be held and will sit in your arms completely content for hours.
He's a really good eater (as one can tell from his weight gain).
He loves his baths and loves to have his head scrubbed (just like Porter).
He loves to sleep with at least one hand by his face, he doesn't sleep as well if both of his arms are pinned to his sides.
He will take a pacifier, but he doesn't need it very often. In fact I don't think we used it until he was more than two weeks old...he just isn't that fussy.
He has the hiccoughs at least once or twice daily, but they don't seem to bother him.
He smiles a lot when he's asleep (and once when he was awake...lucky Kyle).
He holds his head up really well and very steady for 4-5 minutes at a time.
He's getting chubby cheeks and a little double chin and he pulls it off so well, if only it were cute on everybody.
He has cute little old-man hair, it grows on the sides and in the back, but it's a little thin on the top.
He likes to cuddle.
He's our little sweetie.

Porter seems to be adjusting...
Being a big brother hasn't been that difficult an adjustment for Porter. He has been adjusting really well. Although, unless Bridger is making noise (which he doesn't do that often) I don't know that Porter even realizes he's around!
But, when he does take notice of our little one, Porter gets very excited and tries to be very helpful.
He loves to point out all of Bridger's body parts.
Porter's favorite...eyes.
Our least favorite...eyes.
Porter loves to hold Bridger, even if it's only for 10 seconds (which it usually is, cause that's as long as Porter's attention span lasts)
Porter loves to give Bridger things...stuffed animals... pacifiers... spatulas... books... toys... cans of soup... you know, the basic needs of a 4 week old.
Porter tries to be quiet when Bridger is sleeping by saying "SSSHHHH" as loud as he can. (thought that counts, right?)
Porter takes all of Bridger's diapers to the trash...Mommy loves this one.
Porter loves to help give Bridger his baths, he gets to clean Bridger's foot.
Porter loves to give Bridger hugs and kisses and demands to give Bridger a kiss every night before he goes to bed.
He loves to push Bridger in the swing while shouting, "Wee Wee Wee" at the top of his lungs.
The only line that Porter has drawn is in regards to his blankets. Porter's blankets are Porter's blankets and there will be no sharing. He will gladly bring Bridger one of Bridger's blankets, but Porter's are off-limits to anyone but himself.
Not too bad for a 20 month old trying to learn to share everything with a newborn baby... I have to hand it to him, I think Porter does a great job as a big brother.

new places to play
So, Porter has always liked our sunroom, and now that it's warming up a little (not much, but enough) Porter can be found playing out there daily. It has all sorts of things in it that will need to be cleaned out when we get around to "Spring Cleaning" around this place. This for instance, is a dryer that we inherited from Kari and Craig a while ago. I think that they believed it would either be dropped off at DI or that it would go to someone who needed a dryer...so did I.
Kyle apparently has other plans for it...like tearing it apart for some reason or another.
Porter has found it useful as a new place to play. Can you see him?
That's okay, I couldn't at first either...
Can you see him now?
This is his new favorite spot to play. The empty dryer. He likes to climb inside with a screwdriver or a tape measure and will literally stay here, clinking tools around, for hours.
Boys...go figure.

Conference
Kyle and I really wanted to watch Conference this weekend, but it wasn't a very likely possibility with Porter.
Luckily, Kyle found a way to keep Porter watching too...
Yes, that is President Monson being flanked by Buzz Lightyear...
Kyle and I were able to watch Conference after all.
And, we finally found a good use for picture-in-picture. It's something I didn't fully appreciate until this weekend.
