up to speed

We lived in a cute house that was a little farther North.
Then we moved into this home which was for sale.
It was cheap on rent because it was for sale.
But it was for sale.
Then they called and said the house wasn't for sale anymore.
The house had sold.
"Get your tushies out of there" they said.
So out of here our tushies will go.
Next week.
To an even better house.
This house.
It has a pool too.
And grass in the backyard.
And an area for a garden.
And a place to put our camp trailer.
And it's not for sale.
Which means we don't have to move again until Kyle's done with school if we don't want to.
And we don't want to.
Yay for us.
Our tushies are excited.

Briggs at 6 months

He's getting big.
And bigger every day.

Bridger is now 6 months old and he weighs 18 lbs. 13 oz. and is 28 inches long.

That's a big boy.

A really big boy.

Six months for this kid means...

*Crawling... army crawling, and he's getting pretty fast.

*No teeth yet, but if the drool is at all prophetic of things to come, they should be in by morning.

*He loves his baths. I put about two inches of water in the tub, lay him on his back and let him go to town. He splashes and smiles until the water gets cold, then I refill the tub (wipe down the walls) and he goes again... he could live in the tub and be plenty happy.
*He wears Porter's 12 month rompers, which are only slightly large on him.
*Smiles... constantly.
*He is very ticklish, particularly his thighs and right under his rib cage.
*He has a darling little chuckle.

*He laughs at himself in the mirror.

*He still loves to be swaddled to go to sleep, he'll start closing his eyes as you wrap him up.
*He loves his big brother. Porter makes him grin.
*He has started eating his fruits and veggies, and the boy isn't picky when it comes to food.
*We think he's going to be blonde. He's got quite a bit of hair coming in and it's light and it's thick, so I guess we'll wait and see.

He's just a good boy.
An all around good boy.
He eats good, sleeps good, smiles all the time and rarely gets upset (unless he hasn't eaten in a while... but really, who doesn't get a little grumpy when they're hungry?)
We couldn't have asked for a better baby.

Briggs has been such a fun addition to the family... we're so happy that he's here.

freckles

I just love them, each and every one.

Today there are 112... I know, because I counted them all while he fell asleep in my arms.

Tomorrow there will be more, and I'll love each of those too, but I thought you should know that today, there are 112 adorable freckles on this adorable little face.

labor day weekend

I'm starting to notice a trend in how I document big weekends/holidays/important celebrations... and I have to say I don't like it. This past weekend we headed up to see Gramma and Grampa M. We went out camping to their property and we had so much fun, but I failed to take many pictures. I tend to take several pictures for about an hour... then I load up my camera and forget about it the rest of the weekend/trip/holiday/celebration. So, as a result I only captured a few shots this past weekend, but there were many that I wish I had taken.
Like it would have been nice to have one of us on our first night roasting hot-dogs and getting our official tour of the shabin (half shed, half cabin).
Or, one of my hair the next morning... it was a sore sight for eyes (yes, you read that correctly).
One of me and Mom trying to crack open pine-cones to get the pine-nuts and realizing why it is that pine-nuts are so darn expensive.
One of Dad taking a swig of expired milk and trying to get me to taste some just to make sure it was sour.
And, one of playing horseshoes would have been nice too.
Oh, and had I thought about it and not been ashamed to take such a picture, I would have taken one of Bridger's burns that he sustained when his big brother tried to share his hot-dog roasting stick with him (Bridger let go pretty quick but the damage was done... second degree burns to his hand and a couple to his ear and back of his head... Bridger fell asleep a few minutes later and hasn't acted like the burns have bothered him since).
But alas, none of these pictures exist.
It was a fabulous weekend though, even without the beloved pictures to prove it.
We ate good food, talked, ate yummy food, shared stories, ate more food, stargazed, ate a little more, went on hikes, and enjoyed just sitting around doing a whole lot of nothing.
One of the few photos I did happen to take was this one. This rock is the highest point on the property and it's covered in all sorts of cool colored lichen... the orange is the same color as Porter's hair. He liked it. And so did I.

Thanks Momma and Daddy for the wonderful weekend... can't wait to do it again soon. And maybe next time I'll remember to keep my camera out a little while longer.
