I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but there are cockroaches here.

Hoards of them.

And I hate them.

A lot.

We bug bombed our house before we moved in, and before any boxes were moved into the house, I quickly swept/vacuumed/picked up every dead cockroach that was in my home due to the bug bomb (there were a lot, and it freaked me out a little bit).

Then I had Kyle dump boric acid around the perimeter of our house and under cabinets and big appliances to kill any strays that thought they could outsmart the bug bomb.

No joke... on a daily basis I have to sweep up at least 3 dead cockroaches. I've had to since we moved in. And I make sure that every morning I do my roach-walk around the house and find all those that died during the night and make sure that they have a proper burial. If there's anything that I'm a little OCD about, it's getting those cockroaches.

Yesterday I saw 2 that were still alive and had to skoosh them myself.

It's getting out of hand.

Yesterday it got too out of hand.

The boys got up early. About 7am yesterday to be exact. Most mornings they sleep in until 8:30 or 9:00 (I know... they're great kids).

So, my morning was thrown off a little bit.

I changed Porter and Bridger... taking note of two dead roaches in the front room that I would need to vacuum up (two dead roaches that weren't there yesterday when I did my rounds).

I got Porter some cereal and returned to the front room to find Bridger playing on the floor in the corner of the room.

And I saw him chewing.

My mind quickly flashed back to this mornings bug count, and there had been a roach right where Bridger was sitting.

That roach was gone.

And Bridger was chewing.

I ran over picked him up and reached in his mouth... couldn't quite feel anything in there but he started to gag. So I flipped him over on his belly and patted his back trying to get the darn thing out.

He coughed.

He swallowed.

He smiled.

And that was that.

I think it was a cheerio.

things that make me smile

*Porter watching bull-riding. He thinks it's awesome... and when he watches he shouts, "WOOOHHH" the entire time the rider is on the bull. It's one long drawn out "WOH" until he gets bucked off and Porter ends it with a "CRASH!"... one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

*Briggs loves his older brother. He chases him around the house, but for some reason, Porter is a little scared when Briggs takes chase. Porter starts to whimper and whine... and when Briggs finally catches him (because Porter is now frozen in place due to fear), Bridger breaks out in a full out chuckle... love it.

*UP!

*Porter has to jump over the cracks in the cement at Walmart. Not something that Kyle or I do, so I don't know where he gets it... but he's a little OCD about it. I first noticed it about a month or so ago and he still does it, every time. He has to jump over the cracks. Funny kid.

*Bridger sucks his thumb. He won't take a pacifier at all... loves that thumb. And he only sucks it when he's tired. Hand the boy a blanket, he'll take hold and shove his thumb into his mouth... in a few minutes he'll be asleep.

*Sweet Potato Fries from Costco. Bless you Kyle. Bless you and your ever-lovin-sweet-potato-fry-finding heart.

*Briggs desperately wants to eat or drink anything that you've got. I don't remember Porter being obsessed with our food, but Bridger sure is. From Porter's sippy cup full of milk or juice to my hamburger last night... he wants it.

*I tackled Porter last night and tickled him and in between laughing he shouted, "Daddy, Howp!" (help) When Daddy came to his rescue and then turned on him, tickling him as well, he shouted, "MomMom Howp!" So funny.

*Porter sitting in his chair eating spaghettios. Bridger sitting underneath the chair literally being showered with the remnants of what falls off the spoon on the way to Porter's mouth, and Briggs enjoying every spilled bite. (I had to scrub the drippings out of Bridger's hair afterward)

*Homemade Peanut Butter Bars... yummy.

*This sweet little red-head who has decided that he doesn't like his photo being taken.

*This little blue-eyed smiley boy.

*And a much bigger blue-eyed boy whose picture I forgot to take.

All make me grin a little bigger.

While our house is pretty darn perfect, it's been lacking a couple of things. Both of which we found this past weekend.
We headed up to visit Gramma and Papa M. and we found what we had been looking for, right in their backyard.

A garden gnome. One who is fond of suckers. And a bumblebee. One with a face as sweet as suckers. So, we packed them both up and took them home.

They make for pretty cute little lawn ornaments.
